Chelidonium

I'm a seasonal curmudgeon, wincing whenever the praises of autumn are sung too early (read: August). I like fall as much as the next person. But I like summer too, even the scraggly, overgrown bits that are everywhere right now. So I'm forgoing pumpkin-flavored everything to soak up the last of the season (read: swimming, flip flops, open windows at night and the end of the blackberries).

And speaking of summer, one thing I've been working on over the course of the past few weeks is painting a New England wildflower a day. I'm hoping to make a print when I've finished up, so let's see how long the blooms last. And while we're on the topic of prints, I just popped "The Bibliophiles" into the shop this afternoon.

Green Leaves

Something I started for fun recently. It's big (well, for me) measuring 30 inches high and I'm having the time of my life painting vines and leaves and every green thing I can think of.

And I just posted an about/FAQ page on the sidebar. There's information about illustrating digitally, commissions and other assorted items. If there's a specific question I didn't cover, just let me know and I'll try to pop it in there. Hope this helps!

Here's a pattern I drew a few weeks back, inspired by childhood's spent camping up in Northern Maine. I miss listening to loon cries and campfires more than you can possibly imagine.

Yodelayheehoo

Something I drew for this week's Spoonflower challenge, "Hiking." This week's theme uses a specified color palette that's pretty far removed from anything I'd typically choose. That said, I actually liked dealing with color constraints and enjoyed the challenge.

Full disclosure: I would totally wear a pair of shorts like the below alpine maid is wearing. Mmm hmm.

Hot Ginger and Dynamite

I attended the Roaring Twenties Lawn Party at the Crane Estate this past weekend (you can see photos here and here). In light of that, drawing a flapper seemed apropos today.

And the subject line means I have to link to this. I remember watching that episode as a teenager, then proceeding to beg my piano teacher if she could track down said sheet music. Spice Girls? Pft. This was my high school jam.
