A Distant Day

Because sometimes you get an idea in your head and can't rest 'till it's been hashed out.

So you threw the key away...

Yes, I have been on a Decemberists kick as of late. And a vanilla iced coffee kick too for that matter.

Flit and Float

A wedding card, almost 364 days late for a college friend visiting this week from Belize. We managed some antiquing, lunch* and I survived rush hour traffic. Barely.

*Ohmygosh those veggie burgers. Mmm...

Objects in Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear

If you squint hard, those letters spell "Chess Club" in between the windows. Don't you kind of wonder who would be a member of a second story Chess Club? I feel like there's a story here somewhere...
Don't worry. I wasn't the one driving. And as I recall, I didn't feel as peevish as I look.

I've been slacking in the drawing-from-life department. Too many things to do, this just seems to slip through the cracks. I've been looking at the Charles Bargue drawing book (courtesy of my mother), which is pretty old school, but seems like the kind of artistic calisthenics I could use right now. So that's what's on my plate.

Oh, and I can't believe this one slipped my mind. You should check out former co-worker /illustrator extraordinaire Erik Evensen's new blog, "Daily Deity" featuring drawings of all manner of mythological beings. Thoroughly entertaining. And educational.

And May Flowers bring Pilgrims

I'm planning a shop update for the weekend and here's a sneak peak.
LinkSpring flowers, I like you. Spring pollen, you sucker punched me.

Assorted things of a nice nature:
Mirasol Farm's organic soaps * the sound of frogs in the swamp at night * listening to the Welcome Wagon * crocheted jar jackets

Zoom

Pssssst... If you're looking for some really spiffy artwork, check out the Incredible Print Show at Artstream (including a few of my pieces).

And this is the bicycle I keep waxing poetic about. This weekend it got some much needed TLC (including a touch up on the lettering). And now that I've attacked it with WD40, I can actually shift out of first gear, which is going to make life a whole lot better.

The Defender of the Books

I'd never heard of a pseudoscorpion before I found one scaling the walls here last week. Googling brought up some resources and now that I've learned they eat booklice, I like the little guy a bit more.

Somewhere a paperback breathes a sigh of relief.

*****

Apologies for the radio silence. There's been some delightful houseguests here and between that and working, it's been a full week. We managed to fit in some coffee shop time and antiquing, which was pretty darn swell.

And I keep telling myself I don't "need" the vintage carousel ice tea glasses I spotted, but gah... Resistance might be futile.
